At the current level of dental science and practice, it is neither health-wise nor economically justified to provide every child with the same level of preventive measures. Today, it is possible, after analyzing a combination of hereditary, health (biological), and social factors, to accurately assess the likelihood that a child (or even an adult) will develop and progress in a carious process. This probability is called the RISK LEVEL, and based on it, selective protective measures and means can be chosen. This approach is called INDIVIDUALIZED PREVENTION and is predominant in organizing the fight against cavities.
