Skiing in Belgrade dates all the way back to 1922. Organized by the "Soko" association, the first skiing sports contest took place on Avala mountain in 1929. All the skiing tracks in Serbia of that time were built in Belgrade, so there were skiing tracks on Avala in Kosutnjak, Kalemegdan and the then non-residential Banovo hill. Between two World Wars, Belgrade also had two jumping ramps: on Avala (20m) and Kosutnjak (40m).
