According to folk tales, the name "Karaburma" originated from the Turkish words "kara" meaning "black" and "burma" meaning "wedding band", and the reason for that is that it used to be the place where the 'black wedding ring weddings' used to happen -meaning death. However this most likely isn't true because in old Turkish and Austrian maps, this entire area was marked as "Kaya-burun" which in Turkish means 'a rocky ridge', referring to its geographical properties.
