In the place of today's palace Albania there used to be a tavern of the same name which was constructed around the middle of the 19th century. The tavern was located in a great spot because the Moscow hotel was nearby and everyone who went towards Kalemegdan had to pass by it. The famous clock in front of the tavern became a meeting place for many Belgraders.

It was torn down in 1936 in order to make room for palace Albania.
