The wealthy Zemun trader, Theodor Tosa Apostolovic, constructed a well next to the road to Bezanija. This place soon became a beloved picnicking spot for the denizens of Zemun who also greeted the 1st of May dawn on it every year. The well was covered soon after the war ended because the Student town was to be buried there. From then until today the street changed its name only once during WWII when the Germans called it Gerring street.
