Decorative stone

The use of decorative stone in the interior and exterior has become synonymous with luxury, warmth and authentic style. Apart from its aesthetic value, this material is extremely durable, serves as an excellent heat and sound insulator, and significantly increases the value of any real estate. By choosing the right type and design of stone, you can turn an ordinary wall into a real work of art that lasts for decades.

On this page you can find a list of companies in Belgrade that deal with the production of decorative stone.

What is the difference between natural and artificial decorative stone?

The main difference lies in the composition, weight and method of processing. Natural decorative stone is obtained by cutting real rocks (such as marble, slate or travertine), which means that each piece is unique in color and texture. It is extremely resistant, but also heavier, which requires a stronger base. On the other hand, artificial (cast) stone is made from concrete or plaster mixtures with the addition of pigments. It faithfully reproduces the appearance of natural stone, but is significantly lighter, simpler to cut and install, and often more affordable, which makes it ideal for interior partition walls.

Where can you place a decorative stone?

The possibilities for placing decorative stone are almost unlimited. In the interior, the most popular is the wall behind the TV in the living room, lining the counters, corridors or the space around the fireplace. Thanks to its resistance to moisture (in concrete and natural varieties), stone is a frequent choice for details in bathrooms or kitchens. In the exterior, it is irreplaceable for covering facades, plinths of houses, pillars, but also for decorating summer houses and garden walls. It is only important to match the type of material with the purpose: gypsum stone is exclusively for dry interior rooms, while natural and concrete stone are solutions for all conditions.

How is decorative stone maintained and cleaned?

Maintaining decorative stone is surprisingly simple. For interior walls, occasional vacuuming with a soft brush or wiping with a dry cloth is sufficient to remove dust. If the stone is impregnated, it can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth without using aggressive chemicals. For external walls, the stone can be washed with a jet of water under low pressure. The key to longevity is precisely impregnation - a transparent protective coating that prevents the absorption of moisture, grease and prevents the appearance of stains, making the stone wear-resistant and easier to clean.
