Upholstering of doors is an extremely practical and aesthetically attractive wallpapering work that gives old, damaged or dilapidated doors their top-notch appearance, with a drastic improvement in sound and thermal insulation of the space. In addition to functionality, upholstery hides scratches, cracks and mechanical damage, giving the door a luxurious and modern look.
If your home or business needs professional door upholstery, on this page you can find a list of upholstery shops and craftsmen in Belgrade.
The main reason why apartment owners choose to upholster doors is to significantly improve the comfort of the living space.
The spongy layer and the densely woven material act as an exceptional sound insulator that muffles noisy footsteps from the building's corridors, the operation of the elevators, the murmur of neighbors and the noise of the city. Also, the upholstery closes all micro-gaps, prevents drafts and heat loss during the winter, thus directly saving energy for heating. On the aesthetic side, a wide range of colors, textures and quilting techniques are available (from classic quilting with decorative buttons and threads, to modern flat and geometric quilting).
The quality of the materials used is extremely important for the longevity of upholstered doors, which must be resistant to wear and tear and easy to maintain.
As the outer layer, high-quality eco-leather or natural leather is most often used, while waterproof furniture fabrics and plush are increasingly used for interior doors. The inner filling consists of a high-density sponge combined with felt or coflin, which provide softness and insulating properties. Experienced upholsterers can perform the work directly on the field without removing the door, or in the workshop within just a few hours.
When choosing material for the front door, always give preference to high-quality eco-leather with UV protection because it is easy to wipe with a damp cloth and does not absorb odors and dust from the hallway. If you have pets that scratch the surface of your front door, ask the upholsterer to install special Pet Friendly materials that are resistant to wear and tear. Before the actual upholstery, be sure to replace or service the old locks, cylinders and doorknobs, so that the new upholstery does not have to be cut and damaged afterwards. Also, regularly clean the upholstery with a mild detergent and a soft cloth, avoiding aggressive chemical agents and solvents that can damage the surface layer of eco-leather.
