Neurotreatments

In search of better mental health and cognitive performance, more and more people are turning to modern methods offered by 21st century medicine. Neurotreatments in Belgrade have become a synonym for a non-invasive and scientifically based approach to improving the work of the nervous system. Whether it's solving chronic problems or wanting to achieve superior mental performance, these methods provide an opportunity for long-term change without the use of medication.

What exactly are neurotreatments?

Neurotreatments represent a group of therapeutic methods that focus on measuring and training brain activity. The best-known method is Neurofeedback, a process in which the brain waves are monitored with the help of sensors, while the patient receives feedback about his condition through visual or sound signals. The essence is in the plasticity of the brain, that is. the ability of the central nervous system to establish new, healthier patterns of functioning. These treatments do not "inject" electricity into the brain, but act as a "mirror" that helps the organ to self-regulate and optimize its work.

For which conditions are neurotreatments most often recommended?

The application of neurotreatment is extremely broad and includes different age groups. In children, they are most often used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning difficulties, and autism spectrum disorders. Adults usually turn to specialists for problems with anxiety, depression, insomnia or chronic stress. Also, neurotreatments have proven to be an excellent support in rehabilitation after a stroke or in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). An increasing number of healthy individuals, such as managers and athletes, are using these treatments to achieve maximum focus and resistance to pressure.

How long does one treatment cycle last?

Achieving lasting neurological changes requires continuity, as the brain learns through a process of repetition. A typical cycle usually includes between 20 and 40 sessions. In the beginning, a more intense pace is recommended, two to three times a week, in order for the brain to adopt new patterns more quickly. Each session lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. Although the first signs of improvement are visible in many people already after a dozen treatments, a complete cycle is necessary in order for the brain to permanently "memorize" new self-regulation skills, similar to how we learn to ride a bicycle or swim.

F&Q

What is qEEG brain mapping?

It is a diagnostic procedure that is performed before the start of the treatment in order to precisely see in which parts of the brain there is an imbalance of waves and create a training plan based on that.

Are neurotreatments safe for young children?

Yes, they are completely safe and non-invasive. Children usually perceive them as a fun activity because the training takes place through watching cartoons or playing simple video games.

Can neurotreatments be done in parallel with drug therapy?

I can. Neurotreatments are an excellent complementary therapy, and with the improvement of the condition, the doctor can gradually and under supervision reduce the dose of drugs.

Is there pain or discomfort during the session?

No. Sensors placed on the scalp are completely passive. They only record the electrical activity of the brain and there is no pain or discomfort.

Who carries out these treatments in clinics in Belgrade?

Treatments are carried out by certified experts, usually psychologists, neuropsychologists or doctors who have undergone specialized training in working with biofeedback and neurofeedback technology.
