Back to: Wipers and wiper blades
When planning car maintenance, we often focus on the engine, brakes or tires, while one important safety element remains in the background: wipers and blades. Correct wipers are your first line of defense during heavy summer showers, blizzards or dense fog, and quality wipers ensure a clean windshield, maximum visibility and prevent driver eye fatigue, which directly affects the speed of reaction in critical situations.
On this page you can find a list of authorized service centers and auto parts stores in Belgrade, where you can buy wiper blades and wipers for your car.
Many drivers wait until they completely lose visibility before buying new wipers, which is a dangerous habit. There are several clear signs that your wiper blades are worn:
Water marks and smudges: If the wipers leave streaks or "fog" on the glass, the rubber is likely cracked or hardened.
Squeaking and shaking: Unpleasant sounds during operation mean that the wiper blade no longer fits properly on the windshield or has lost its elasticity due to UV radiation and temperature changes.
Damaged tire: By visual inspection, you can see cracking or separation of the rubber part from the plastic frame. Experts recommend replacing wipers at least once a year, ideally before the start of the autumn rainy season.
Two basic types of wipers dominate the market today, and the choice depends on the model of your vehicle and your preferences:
Classic (metal) wipers: They have a metal construction with several pressure points. They are more economical, but they are more susceptible to corrosion and ice accumulation during the winter.
Flat (Aerodynamic) wipers: A modern solution without a metal frame. Thanks to their design, these squeegees exert even pressure along the entire length of the squeegee, are quieter at higher speeds and provide much better cleaning. Also, their "spineless" design prevents the accumulation of snow and ice, making them ideal for the winter months. Regardless of the type, always choose proven brands that guarantee longevity and resistance to extreme weather conditions.
Buying quality wipers is the first step, but proper care can significantly extend their lifespan. Never use the wipers "dry", because dust and sand can damage both the wiper rubber and the glass itself. Regular topping up of quality windshield fluid reduces friction and makes it easier to remove insects and grease. During the winter, be sure to clear the ice from the windshield before turning on the wipers, as ice acts like a razor on sensitive rubber. Also, occasionally wiping the rubber of the broom with a damp cloth will remove accumulated dirt and enable better adhesion to the glass.
