Zvezdara (the forest) is the forested area of the hill which occupies the right side of Danube and borders Mirijevo, the Youth stadium and Sporting center Zvezdara. The vegetation growing here is mostly artificially planted and ages on average around 60 years. The main purpose of the forest is enhancing the environment and Belgrade’s ecological conditions in general.
The foresting of Zvezdara began in 1933, after the Observatory had been built there. Most of the trees was planted between 1948 and 1950, through the activities of scouts and pioneers.
