The first bookstore in Belgrade was started by Gligorije Vozarovic in the corner of Kralja Petra and Kneza Sime Markovica streets during the reign of kneza Milosa Obrenovica.

Some time later the Library of Belgrade municipality was founded in this bookstore in 1832 and the National library of Serbia grew out of that. The first book ever printed in our country named  "Srbsko stihotvorenije" (Serbian poetry-crafting) was also printed here. In the period between 1883 and 1844 Vozarevic worked as a book-binder for the National printing house.
