What does the body ironing process mean?

The body ironing process is a work of art that combines raw power and surgical precision. It involves the use of various hand tools such as special hammers, midwives and crowbars, but also modern machines such as the "spotter" device for extracting dents from the outside. The essence of the process is to gradually return the molecular structure of the sheet to its place. What is the PDR method?

One of the most popular techniques today is the PDR method (Paintless Dent Repair), i.e. ironing the body without painting. This technique is revolutionary because it allows the removal of dents while completely preserving the factory paint and varnish. Using special levers accessed from the inside or vacuum systems from the outside, the tinsmith "massages" the metal until it is back to flat. Can the aluminum body be ironed?

Although aluminum is increasingly present in the automotive industry due to its light weight, its ironing is a special challenge. Unlike steel, aluminum is more brittle, has no "shape memory" and cracks more quickly when straightened. However, aluminum bodywork can be ironed, but it requires specialized tools and a different approach, often involving controlled heating of the material to make it more pliable.
