When furnishing a children's room, the carpet plays a key role because it visually connects the space, brings warmth and turns a cold floor into a safe play area. In addition to beautiful colors and patterns that stimulate the imagination, a good carpet for children must also meet high standards when it comes to health, safety and easy maintenance.
If you also need the most beautiful children's carpets and equipment for decorating a children's room, on this page you can find a list of shops and carpet salons in Belgrade.
The choice of material is the most important item because children's skin and respiratory tract are extremely sensitive. Modern children's carpets are most often made of materials that successfully balance softness and resistance.
Polypropylene (Heat-set and Frieze): Currently the most popular choice for children's rooms. These synthetic fibers are extremely soft to the touch, are anti-allergic (do not collect dust and mites) and are extremely resistant to stains from juices, felt-tip pens and plasticine.
Cotton rugs: A great, natural option for babies and small children. They are light, pleasant to the skin, and many modern cotton models can be completely washed in a home washing machine.
Foam carpets (puzzle and mats): Ideal for the crawling and walking stage as they provide maximum cushioning in case of falls and are completely waterproof.
A carpet in a child's room can also be a great educational tool. Instead of classic monochrome models, parents increasingly choose interactive patterns. Carpets with street paths, intersections and traffic signs drawn on them turn the room into a mini city for cars, while models with school, letters, numbers or a world map encourage early learning through fun. For little princesses and superheroes, there are motifs with favorite cartoon characters, gentle star patterns, clouds and motifs of the animal kingdom that bring cheerfulness to every corner.
Children spend most of the day on the floor, so the children's carpet must have a non-slip surface (rubber or latex) that prevents the carpet from moving and slipping during chasing and playing. Another important item is maintenance - children's carpets with shorter flora (fibers) are a much better choice than "shaggy" carpets, because crumbs, small toys and dust do not stay deep in them, which makes daily vacuuming and mopping easier.
