Back to: Freshly squeezed juices
Freshly squeezed juices have become an indispensable part of the modern diet. They offer refreshment, energy and a number of benefits for the body without additives and artificial ingredients. If you are looking for places in Belgrade where you can buy freshly squeezed juices, on this page you will find a list of cafes and restaurants where you can order freshly squeezed juices.
What is the difference between freshly squeezed and pasteurized juice?
Although both products may look similar, the difference between freshly squeezed and pasteurized juice is big. Freshly squeezed juices are obtained by direct squeezing of fruits and vegetables, without any heat treatment, which allows to preserve natural vitamins, minerals, enzymes and antioxidants. Pasteurized juices, on the other hand, go through a heating process to help them last longer on the shelves. This process, although practical for storage and distribution, significantly reduces the nutritional value. In addition, pasteurized juices often contain added sugar, flavorings, and preservatives. Freshly squeezed juice is therefore significantly richer in useful ingredients and represents a more natural choice for everyday consumption.
How long does the freshness of squeezed juice last?
Freshly squeezed juice is best consumed immediately after preparation, while all the beneficial ingredients are at their peak. Under ideal conditions, the juice can stay in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but after a few hours it begins to lose its nutritional properties - especially vitamin C, which is sensitive to light and oxygen. Storing in tightly sealed glass bottles can slow down oxidation, but is not a permanent solution. Juices containing citrus fruits, ginger or apple oxidize faster, while beet or carrot juices can be stored a little longer. If you want the maximum effect - drink your juice immediately.
Are children allowed to drink freshly squeezed juices?
Children can drink freshly squeezed juices, but with certain guidelines. Moderate intake is recommended, because natural fruit sugars, although healthier than refined sugars, can be too concentrated for children's bodies in large quantities. It is best to dilute the juice with water, especially when it comes to citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons or grapefruits. Ideal options for the youngest are mild apple, pear, carrot or pumpkin juices. Also, it is important to avoid giving juices on an empty stomach to children in order to prevent possible indigestion. With proper use, freshly squeezed juices can be an excellent addition to the children's menu.
