Clay tiles remain the undisputed choice for lovers of tradition and natural materials. However, metal roofs (tiled sheet or trapezoidal sheet) are also enjoying increasing popularity due to their light weight and quick assembly. Bituminous shingles (tegola) are often used for buildings with specific slopes or less structural capacity, while concrete roof tiles have become the standard for areas with extreme weather conditions. The choice of material directly depends on the slope of the roof, the bearing capacity of the material and the investor's budget.
The main difference between these two types of tiles lies in the raw material composition and the method of production. Clay tiles are made from natural clay that is fired at high temperatures, which gives it exceptional longevity (often over 100 years) and a characteristic color that does not fade. On the other hand, concrete tiles are made from a mixture of cement, sand and pigments. It is heavier than clay, but extremely resistant to mechanical damage and severe frosts. While clay tiles "breathe" better, concrete tiles often have more precise dimensions, which makes it easier to fit and install them on the roof structure.
This foil is an indispensable element of every modern, ventilated roof. Its role is twofold: it acts as a secondary roof that prevents any moisture (fallen snow or condensate) from penetrating the insulation and woodwork, while at the same time it allows water vapor from inside the house to escape freely. Without this foil, moisture would be retained in the insulation, which would drastically reduce its effectiveness and create conditions for horn rot. Quality vapor-permeable foil is the key to a healthy microclimate in the attic and a long service life of the entire roof structure.
