Back to: Self-defense equipment
Self-defense equipment is becoming an increasingly important part of everyday life for many people who want to feel safe, carefree and protected in any situation. Modern props are designed to be compact, easy to carry and easy to use.
If you also need effective equipment for self-defense, on this page you can find a list of shops and stores in Belgrade where you can buy it.
There are several different types of equipment on the market that are adapted to different situations and personal affinities of the user, all with the goal of temporarily incapacitating the attacker.
Pepper sprays and tear gas: The most practical solution that allows you to neutralize the threat from a safe distance of several meters. They cause immediate watering, closing of the eyes and irritation of the respiratory tract, giving you plenty of time to escape.
Electroshockers: Compact devices that emit a powerful electrical impulse. They act on the attacker's muscular system, causing instant spasm and disorientation, and many models have an integrated and powerful LED flashlight.
Telescopic batons: Intended for physical blocking of blows and defense at a distance. They are made of durable metal alloys, and open with a quick swing of the hand.
Personal alarms (sirens): Small pendants that emit an extremely loud sound (over 120 dB) when the pin is pulled. Their goal is to frighten the attacker and distract the attention of the surroundings.
In Serbia, the field of personal protection is regulated by the Law on Weapons and Ammunition. According to current regulations, adults (over 18 years of age) have the right to legally buy, carry and use self-defense equipment such as pepper spray and stun guns, without any obligation to report to the police. However, the key legal and ethical rule is that this equipment may be used exclusively in self-defense, i.e. in case of necessary defense when your life, physical integrity or property are threatened, and that in proportion to the intensity of the attack.
Self-defense equipment must be easily accessible - in your jacket pocket, on your belt, or in the outer compartment of your purse, so you can pull it out within a second. When choosing, take into account ergonomics and size. Women most often choose mini pepper sprays in the shape of roses or small shockers that fit in the hand, while men often prefer more robust models with a stronger case.
