Back to: Modern kitchen sinks
One sink or two? Granite, metal or enameled iron? So many questions that need to be answered before your money goes to waste. What types exist and how to choose the right sink for your home and needs, find out below.
What types of modern sinks are there?
Today's range of sinks offers a variety of choices in terms of shapes, sizes and installation options. Standard built-in sinks are still a common choice, but more and more contemporary sinks with two or more troughs are being chosen, as well as those built-in under the work surface for a more even look in the kitchen. In addition, there are sinks that offer different mounting methods - from traditional mounting on the work surface to elegant built-in variants. Sinks with scratch-resistant surfaces are also popular options that allow for easier maintenance.
What additional equipment do modern sinks offer?
Modern sinks not only provide space for washing dishes, but often come with additional equipment that improves functionality. These include integrated drainage boards, storage compartments for accessories, built-in soap dishes and detergent dispensers. Some models come with built-in water filtration systems and even technology to reduce noise when washing dishes. Some modern sinks also have flexible functions such as the ability to overlap parts of the sink to expand the work surface or enable more practical use in different situations.
Which sink material to choose?
The choice of sink material is very important, because it affects durability, appearance and functionality. Stainless steel remains popular for its durability and stain resistance, while granite sinks are increasingly chosen for their aesthetics and scratch resistance. Also, there are those made of enameled iron that provide a retro charm, but are more prone to damage, while glass sinks have a modern look, but require careful use to avoid scratches.
