The surface of Haron is 4.560.000 km² and is crusted in water ice, unlike pluto which is covered in nitrogen ice. Its density is 1,71 g/cm3. The interior is composed of stone (63%) and ice (37%). It probably doesn’t have a significant atmosphere. The center of gravity for Pluto and Haron is located outside of Pluto and towards Haron which is unique in the solar system.
On 19th of January 2006 NASA launched the «Atlas 5» craft which carries the «New Horizon» probe. The goal of the mission is to visit the last unexplored planet of our solar system – Pluto and its satellite Haron.
