Back to: Breast reduction
Breast reduction is an aesthetic surgical procedure that allows women to reduce the size of their breasts, improving not only their physical appearance, but also their quality of life. This procedure is particularly useful for women who suffer from back, shoulder and neck pain, or who have self-confidence issues due to large breasts.
If you are considering this procedure, on this page you can find a list of plastic and aesthetic surgery clinics in Belgrade that offer breast reduction services.
How is a breast reduction procedure performed?
A breast reduction procedure usually begins with a consultation, during which the surgeon considers the patient's wishes, medical history, and physical characteristics. During the operation itself, the surgeon makes incisions in certain places on the chest (around the areola, along the outside of the chest or in the form of a vertical line). Next, the surgeon removes excess fat tissue, glands and skin, which achieves the desired shape and size of the breast. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and lasts between 2 and 4 hours.
What are the benefits of breast reduction?
One of the main benefits of breast reduction is the physical relief patients experience. Large breasts often cause pain in the back, shoulders and neck, which is significantly reduced after surgery. In addition, breast reduction improves body shape, leading to greater self-confidence. Also, breast reduction makes it easier to choose clothes and improves the quality of daily activities.
What are the possible complications after breast reduction?
As with any surgical intervention, breast reduction carries certain risks. Possible complications include infection, scarring, bleeding, irregularities in the shape of the breast, as well as loss or changes in skin sensitivity. Although complications are rare, it is important that patients follow the postoperative instructions and are regularly checked by the surgeon.
