Motor oils

Engine oil helps maintain performance and extend engine life. There are different types of motor oil, and choosing the right one can be a challenge for drivers. Here we will look at the characteristics and types of motor oils, as well as the importance of proper maintenance of motor oil.

Characteristics of motor oils
One of the most important characteristics of motor oils is viscosity. It refers to its ability to spread properly inside the engine. Viscosity classification is done according to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards and is usually indicated by two numbers, for example SAE 10W-30. The first number represents the low temperature, that is, how quickly the oil will start to move in the engine at low temperatures, while the second number indicates the high temperature and how long the oil will stay on the engine parts at high temperatures. In this way, you can choose the oil that will best adapt to the specifics of your engine and the type of driving.

Mineral, synthetic or semi-synthetic motor oils?
There are also different types of motor oils that are designed for specific engine needs. For example, synthetic oils are made from artificial chemicals and have greater stability at high temperatures, thus extending the life of the engine. Mineral oils are made from natural sources and are often used in older engine models. Semi-synthetic oils are a combination of synthetic and mineral oils, and can be used in a wide range of engines. Proper maintenance of engine oil is of great importance in order for the engine to function at its best. Check the oil level regularly and change it according to the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations. In addition, properly recycle old oil and do not store it in places that are not intended for it.
